Abstract :
Glehnia littoralis is an important medicinal plants resources for treating hyperactivity and cough. we discussed the spatial structure of populations about this rare and endangered species protection and management which had an important significance. Glehnia littoralis is located in taohua isle, zhoushan in Zhejiang. Fractal characteristics of Glehnia littoralis population pattern was studied by box-counting dimension with the Adjacent grid method, the results showed that the spatial distribution patterns of Glehnia littoralis population existed fractal characteristics. the inflection scales is 0.5 m, its box-counting dimension ranged between 1.5482 and 1.6096, larger than 1.5, which indicated that the overall population had stronger ability to occupy space. we analysised variance average ratio in the different plots which showed that the spatial structure of Glehnia littoralis population displayed an aggregated distribution pattern. And aggregate intensity index of population was positively related to the box-counting dimension of Glehnia littoralis population, which reflected aggregated intensity of population well.
