Abstract
A novel method based on a mode-matching (MM) procedure of Bessel functions has been presented; it permits the detection of the presence and location of significant scatterers inside cylinders. Validation through simulations has been performed; in particular, an example which reproduces normal/malignant breast tissue conditions has been presented, while validation through measurements is given in [4]. Further research will be focused on investigating the spatial resolution and detectable contrast of the proposed method.
