Vacuum ultraviolet reflectivity spectrum of C/sub 60/ with syncchrotron radiation

Abstract :
Summary form only given. The reflectivity spectrum of C/sub 60/ ecompacted powder with synchrotron radiation light source from 50 to 200nm is measured. The experimental results show that C/sub 60/ has the fine absorption features in vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) range, namely the peaks which occur at 6.2, 7.5, 12.6 and 25 eV, respectively. Tie first peak is sharp and at 6.2 eV. It means that the absorption of C/sub 60/ in ultraviolet range prolongs to VUV range of 175nm (to 7.0 eV). The second absorption peak locates at the position of the first ionisation energy (i. e. 7.5 eV) of C/sub 60/ solid. The third is at about the second ioiazation energy (15 eV). The last strong absorption band occurs at 25 eV which is proposed from C/sub 60/ plasmon.
