Abstract :
The success of wireless networks is draining unprecedented research interest that translates into a tremendous commercial success. The IEEE 802.11 standard has been used widely in most commercial WLAN products available in the market because it proved its efficiency. Development of QoS techniques to provide an effective resources management and a fast access to the network is required. Many solutions were proposed, but most of those solutions are focused on only the MAC layer. In this study, we make further study and evaluations of AMCLM, a new 802.11 WLANs QoS management solution. The originality of this approach is the utilization of a Cross-Layer solution which takes advantage from PHY layer state expressed in SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) to improve the global throughput of the whole network. It makes the network’s management lighter and givse to the user more freedom to choose what goes better with its needs.
