Abstract :
The authors study an infinite-user slotted ALOHA system operating over a capture channel. In a capture channel differences in the levels of received power and time of arrival enable the receiver to successfully receive a packet even when two or more have been transmitted simultaneously. Using a Markovian model, they prove that the slotted ALOHA system with capture channel is not stable unless a control policy is used. The authors use a retransmission control algorithm, and show that significant improvements in the throughput may occur. An equilibrium point analysis of drift function is presented.<>
