Abstract :
In recent years, Digital TV (DTV) terrestrial broadcasting has been widely spread in the world. Additionally, it is expected to smoothly replace all the conventional analog TV broadcasting. However, in order to meet good receiving performance, a DTV antenna with an ultra-wide band and a high gain is generally investigated. In the literature associated with Co-Planar Waveguide (CPW)-fed wideband printed antennas, the printed monopole antenna with a step-sloped ground plane was developed to extend the bandwidth and the printed monopole antenna was successfully implemented for WLAN/WIMAX applications. In this work, we use the CPW-fed mechanism on the dipole antenna in which multiple loops are constructed. Since each loop corresponds to a specific frequency response, multiple loops can yield the integrated frequency response. Restated, all frequency responses of multiple loops are coupled to reach an ultra-wide band. Hence, the proposed CPW-fed wideband printed planar dipole antenna can have a large bandwidth for DTV applications.
