Abstract
Due to the rapid digitalization of television broadcasting, the conventional television media is gradually merging with the related information and communication technologies to form a completely new and enormous digital television industry. A set-top box (STB) is designed to receive the television signal, run the interactive applications and transfer the digital TV signal to the TV. Its hardware and software depends on the nature of those signals and applications. In this paper, we propose a design and implementation of a DVB-T (digital video broadcasting-terrestrial) system set-top box by utilizing a high integration chip solution. With this integration design of both the front end and the related interfaces, we can successfully produce a whole hardware design of the set-top box and also implement a testing procedure to verify our system´s performance as in a common specification.
