Abstract
Summary form only given. Fiber to the home is getting more popular to investors in broadband access systems. The network design and technology chosen determine the investment protection and return of investment. Two dominant technologies are point-to-point (PTP) and point-to-multipoint (PTMP) and are used in different network scenarios and business modeling. Both set the new demands to optical layer and especially to optoelectronic and photonic components. The indoor cabling system is another challenge to the optical fiber industry. Some recent project experiences will be presented and discussed.
