Abstract :
An intelligent call admission control scheme for wideband code-division multiple-access cellular systems based on the class of service has been developed. The scheme supports differentiated quality of service (QoS), guarantees the forced termination probability of handovers and maximizes the network utilization. The new scheme is an extension from the complete sharing scheme, in which the channels in each cell are shared amongst different traffic types and different QoS classes. In addition, three thresholds are used to meet the specific QoS requirements. Performance evaluation is based on mathematical and simulation models. A comparative study demonstrating the provision of QoS for each type of traffic and QoS class is presented.
