Summaries of a panel session on reliability for next-generation commercial airplanes are presented. The topics discussed were a service-ready approach to dependability, new technology reliability, an airline´s operational reliability needs, changing eligibility and safety processes to meet tomorrow´s needs, the new perspective needed for reliability, and removing impediments to efficient operation and maintenance for advanced technology transport airplanes
