Abstract
In the article of Goussetis and Feresidis (2007), an improved thin absorber was proposed whereby improvement is achieved by virtue of the stronger currents excited by a normally incident plane wave on a dipolebased AMC with perturbed unit cell. A study of the currents was carried out both for the case of free-standing FSS and for array elements placed in the proximity of a ground plane. In this contribution as an extension of that work, a parametric study is carried out to present design guidelines and demonstrate optimized performance. The study is based on an in-house MoM code and simulations by a commercial software (Ansoft Designer) are also presented for validation of the performance.
