Abstract :
The many medical applications of real-time computers are illustrated in the areas of data analysis, imaging, physiological monitoring and analysis, control and simulation. The concept of real time is explained, and the importance of I/O throughput and interrupt handling is examined. It is shown that performance optimization may consist of several components that are measurable by various benchmarks
