Abstract :
The paper presents a power supply for an axial flux in-wheel motor with a fractional number of slots per pole and per phase. A soft switching ZCS current source inverter is adopted in order to improve machine and converter efficiency. The chosen topology allows direct motoring and regenerating operation directly from the battery. The paper improves the converter analysis and deals about modulation and control. Moreover, the paper summarizes the machine construction, and it investigates the whole drive performances by means of numerical simulations.
