Abstract :
This paper describes the implementation of a digital map system that incorporate multi-section support whereby an original map in bitmap format is divided into multiple small sections, with each section encoded digitally based on the GDF standard and stored on a server machine. Upon request by the client machine, the server will select the relevant sections, combine them into one single section, and transfer the information in XML format to the client machine which renders the map for display.
