Abstract :
This paper introduces a formal system to convert a collection of acquired packets from different Internet applications (SMTP, HTTP, or FTP) to a structured and readable form. That is achieved through three grammar-based sub-layers; they are application separation sub-layer, session separation sub-layer, and application protocol handler sub-layer. The performance of such a system is evaluated and reported.
