Abstract :
In this paper, a printed compact UWB antenna is presented. A miniature size of the antenna has been achieved by integrating two miniaturisation techniques utilised in and, i.e. the quasi-self-complementary structure and the tapered slot. It has been shown that the optimal design of this type of antenna can offer an ultra wide 10 dB impedance bandwidth with reasonable radiation properties. Key parameters that influence the performance of the antenna are studied. Most importantly, the antenna features both physically and electrically small dimensions, 19mm x 16mm in physical size and 0.19λ in electrical size, respectively.
