Abstract
In Denmark many companies have been concerned with products of a primarily mechanical nature. In many instances electronics and intelligence have then been added, and so the number of companies involved with mechatronics is growing constantly. The possible benefits of this on the level of the individual company is well known and documented. Its potential with consumer perceived quality, production quality, and general benefits to the business of the enterprise. However, in order to claim the potential of mechatronics, the development process and the business optimization must be mastered. And even if the old mechanical products could be extremely complex in a mechanical sense, the products incorporating mechatronics is generally far more complex when it comes to the optimization of the products and their business potential. Therefore, a considerable amount of interest has been turned towards methods, tools, and procedures which can help in the development and optimization process
