Abstract
A smart antenna system for the detection of electromagnetic waves generated by unknown sources or reflected by passive scatterers is proposed. The approach is based on a support vector regression (SVR), which, after a proper training phase, allows very fast detection of the impinging unknown signals. The smart antenna system for homeland security is described in detail and numerical results are reported, which concern the detection and "separation" of several waves in noisy environments.
