Abstract :
This research is aimed at finding an alternative approach to the practice of focusing and unblocking internal energy, referred to in Chinese Medicine as Qi. Tai Ji Quan , also known as Tai Chi, and Qi Gong are well established and excellent methods for promoting healthy Qi flow. However, by providing an alternative framework based on wearable computing that strongly adheres to the traditional concepts of Qi motivation, it may be possible to achieve the same or higher levels of wellness using pervasive computing methods. This work reports on work using wearable computer sensors and multimedia feedback. The computing technology could help in broadening the accessibility of Qi flow exercises to a wider audience and increase their motivation to use the method for disease prevention and cure.
