Abstract
In this paper, a CPW-fed Dielectric Waveguide (DW) antenna is introduced. The CPW feed enables the antenna to be integrated directly with other high performance passive components such as duplexers, filters, and phase shifters, using direct matching techniques. The antenna element has been designed and optimized for the frequency range of 57-65 GHz. The total gain of 9.7 dBi has been achieved. Simulation results show that the antenna has an excellent matching over the entire frequency range. The dimensions of the antenna, including the CPW feed, are 26.5 mm x 5 mm. The antenna consists of 3 main sections: CPW to Slot line transition, Slot line-to-DW transition, and radiating DW part.
