Abstract
In this paper, in order to clarify the influence of the human body on the radio wave propagation of the wearable device for on-body wireless communications, we have derived transmission coefficient analytically, and have evaluated the digital communication using the ISM band of 915 MHz and the UWB band in terms of BER. Due to the propagation characteristic of the wearable device attached to an arm, we have therefore approximated the arm as a dielectric circular cylinder. As a result, it has been shown that the existence of the dielectric circular cylinder improved the BER performance of the digital communications.
