Abstract
The author responds to the charge that the cement industry is insufficiently regulated when using waste-derived fuel to fire cement kilns. The operating limits for Ash Grove´s no.2 kiln at its Louisville, Nebraska, facility are outlined, along with descriptions of the instrumentation required to monitor them. The conclusion is drawn that the numerous safeguards required when burning waste-derived fuel indicate that the cement industry is adequately regulated
