    The issues and concerns related to power quality, safety, cost of energy and associated capital equipment are starting to be questioned as industry prepares itself for the 21st century and competitive global manufacturing. The author sets out to identify those areas of concern and discusses new trends that are developing, trends that apply new technology to traditional mature electromechanical power equipment.
