Abstract :
This paper suggests the use of stepped-FM based ultra-wideband impulse-radio (UWB-IR) for a short-range vehicular radar at 24GHz and a measurement was conducted in typical roads with buildings in both sides. In general, UWB-IR radar requires high speed A/D devices because of the wide bandwidth. Also there may not be enough bandwidth wider than 500MHz available for the vehicular radar. We show that the suggested radar which does not require high speed A/D can be coexistent with other wireless applications without causing interference in frequency domain. We also discuss the other advantage for spectrum efficiency.
