Abstract :
Summary form only given. It was found that several metal salts or acids e.g. H/sub 2/IrCl/sub 6/, MoCl/sub 5/, CuCl/sub 2/ introduced in the electrolyte have well pronounced effect on the electrochemical aniline polymerization on the titanium, tantalum, and stainless steal. Kinetic investigations under constant potential show the reduction of the induction period in presence of the initiators while studies at constant current display potential drop when promoting agent was used. The higher concentration of the additive in solution the lower potential jump within initial stage was observed. Surprisingly quite similar by chemical structure compounds e.g. H/sub 2/PtCl/sub 6/, RhCl/sub 3/ lead to opposite effect during galvanostatic polymerization i.e. to sharp rise of the potential followed by oxide growth. A suggestion is made that the initiator forms surface states within band gap of oxide those provide electron transfer trough interface.
