Abstract :
In this paper, beamforming through a circular pipe with two open ends has been demonstrated using the least squares approach. Through simulation it was shown that using three sources it is possible to steer the main beam of the radiation at the other end of the pipe. The simulation results were then confirmed through measurement results. This one-way beamforming concept can be extended in a straightforward way to two-way detection of a target. Thus it should be feasible to detect the bearing to a target when using a pipe as a propagation medium for through-wall radar.
