Abstract
Small-signal analysis of a soft-switching single-stage AC-to-DC bridge converter that employs a special gating technique is presented. The well-known state averaging technique R. Severns et al. (1985) is extended for small-signal analysis of this single stage AC-to-DC converter. Frequency responses of control-to-output and line-to-output transfer functions are obtained. Control-to-output response is verified by PSPICE simulation for a 1.7 kW, 420 V output, 166 V to 265 Vac (r.m.s.) input, prototype converter. Based on the analysis, the feedback compensation network is also designed for this converter.
