Abstract :
An elastic image registration algorithm has been developed for registering deformed images from different modalities. Corresponding contours within the images are warped onto each other. This results in point-to-point correspondence information along the contours. Local displacement vectors along the contours are then calculated and interpolated to obtain the whole image for registration. Potential tradeoffs of this technique are compared with those of two other techniques: global surface matching using moments and global landmark matching
