Abstract :
Summary form only given. The kinetics of the electrogeneneration of polypyrrole at different potentials has been followed by microgravimetry and through the stored charge. The influence of monomer and electrolyte concentrations during polymerization had been studied. A linear dependence between the mass of polymer deposited onto the electrode and the charge stored by each polymer film was assumed. From this supposition similar apparent reaction orders must be found for monomer or electrolyte through both parameters. From the dissimilarities obtained, some secondary reactions as chemical polymerization and partial degradation of the conjugated polymer have been proposed. From those studies evidences about the existence of electrochemical, chemical and degradation reactions during current flow are obtained. The obtained material is a mixture of the different products. Properties are a result of the composition.
