Abstract :
In this paper we investigate the scattering and propagation characteristics of a Gaussian beam impinging upon a dielectric slab with holes, referred to herein as a “holey plate”, which is designed to have a Double negative (DNG) behavior. Our simulation results indicate that the direction of propagation of the Gaussian beam is dependent upon the waist of the beam, and does not exactly follow the negative refraction behavior predicted by the effective medium theory.
