Abstract :
The effect of hydrogenation on deformation character and mechanical properties of titanium in various structural states was investigated. Ultrasonic impact treatment forming submicrocrystalline structure in a surface layer of cold-rolled material or recrystallization annealing is used to change the structure. It is revealed that the plastic deformation of recrystallized titanium is distributed quasi-homogeneously along the entire working part of loaded specimens and realized by intragrain slide. The formation of submicrocrystalline structure results in localization of plastic flow. Independently of structural state of titanium the surface hydrogenation does not change the character of deformation distribution but gives rise to formation of thin hydrogen layer. Mechanical properties of loaded specimens are governed by duration of hydrogen treatment.
