Abstract
This paper presents an efficient approach to synthesize the near-field pattern of an antenna array for RFID applications. This approach utilizes a global basis set to represent the excitation amplitude of the array with an additional phase impression to generate focused spot beam in the near zone, which is combined with a standard synthesis algorithm of MLSE to generate a contoured pattern. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the efficiency and validity of utilizing this synthesis procedure.
