Abstract :
Summary form only given. Two type of system, conducting polymer-nematic liquid crystal system and conducting polymer-ferroelectric liquid crystal system were prepared by casting the solution with common solvent. Soluble conducting polymers such as poly(3-alkylthiophene) and poly(9,9-dialkylfluorene) were used in this study. The structure of the system observed by a microscope was strongly dependent on concentration of liquid crystal and molecular structures of conducting polymer and liquid crystals. Electrical properties such as dielectric response and optical properties were strongly dependent on the concentration of liquid crystal and correlated with the structure of the system. Electro-optic effect characteristic to these conducting polymer-liquid crystal systems and doping effects were also clarified.
