Abstract :
When building stators, transformers or other types of coils for electric devices it is important to process these coils with a resin or varnish. These resins or varnishes primarily bind wire segments together to eliminate the possibility of wire insulation chafing and causing premature failure. Furthermore, resins also help transfer heat away from the coils and lower the operating temperature. This paper discusses the pros and cons of a number of processes along with the resins or varnishes used to process stators, transformers, or other types of coils. Included are test methods to monitor the filling and curing of the resin or varnish in which a coil has been dipped
