Abstract :
The requirements for vehicle connectors approach those for aircraft and military equipments. Connectors for the latter have been developed over the last 30 years at least and the lessons learnt can be applied to vehicle requirements in a cost effective way. Whole life costs are the important issue including speed of assembly and maintenance of connectors as well as the implications of lack of reliability in increasingly complex electronic and electrical systems.<>
