Abstract
Previous studies of P2P protocols mainly focus on its file sharing algorithm, and many relevant aspects of the protocols remain untouched. In the thesis, we conduct a number of experiments to explore the versions proportion and geographical distribution of the Bit Torrent clients. We implement a Bit Torrent crawler to collect data from trackers and peers, and statistically analyze it to understand the characteristics and behaviors of the Bit Torrent protocol better.
