Abstract :
There are currently many opportunities in the global economy for low cost electrical and electromagnetic component manufacturing operations outside of the continental United States. This paper presents and discusses some of the opportunities that are currently available in the Caribbean Basin the types of products that are most likely to succeed and the types of arrangements that are available for facilities in the Caribbean Basin. Manufacturing costs are discussed based on the options available for the type of facility and contracting arrangement selected. The manufacturing costs as well as the shipping costs are also discussed in this paper. A brief listing of current companies engaged in this type of subcontract manufacture as well as the contacts and organizational names for government officials and agencies of selected Caribbean countries are provided
