Abstract :
The present paper covers the step-by-step mathematical analysis to compute the radiation pattern of an open ended elliptical waveguide. The analysis is generalized and can be applicable to both elliptical and circular aperture with any type of permissible electromagnetic mode and eccentricity (e). The effect of cross polarization variation as functions of aperture dimensions, eccentricity and frequency are also presented in the paper. Also, the design and the corresponding radiation patterns of an elliptical feed horn are included in the paper. The results obtained using the present mathematical analysis are compared with that of the commercially available HFSS software.
