Abstract
In MPRF operation ambiguities arise in both range and Doppler measurement. Conventionally these ambiguities are resolved in the signal processing however it is also possible to resolve the ambiguities at the tracker level. This paper quantifies the gain, for equivalent target visibility, that is achieved when fewer than eight PRF bursts are transmitted and ambiguous measurement data is produced. The degree to which this gain can be realised, and the subsequent implications for the radar loading of the active tracking, surveillance and track-while-scan modes is discussed.
