Analysing the application signification of multi-source data fusion technology in geological and mineral survey, this paper introduces concrete concept, basic methods of multi-source data fusion technology, summarizes its work flow, implementation steps, key technologies and notice proceeding of application in geological and mineral survey according to the characteristic of geological and mineral survey. Combined with the project of 1:50000 regional geological and mineral survey along the southeast of Heishan mountain in Xinjiang, remote sensing image TM, ETM were processed such as extended contrast, ratio increased, principal component analysis, color space conversion and false color composite, remote sensing image data and raster element geochemical maps or discrete data of samples analysis were carried out fusion and overlaying using the geometric mean method, at last structure information and alteration information in the study area were interpreted and extracted to obtain a better geological effect and guide the rational deployment of regional survey work.
