Abstract
A type of metamaterial-based center-fed mushroom antenna is proposed for low-profile broadband antenna design. The mushroom structure is used as the radiating element and aperture coupled beneath the radiators. Unique dual resonant modes are simultaneously excited for broadside radiation. The proposed antenna design methodology has been successfully applied in antenna and array designs for 5-GHz WLAN and 60-GHz WPAN applications.
