Abstract
In this paper, a novel dielectric resonator antenna resonating at 3.46 GHz is presented. From simulated results, it has been confirmed that the mode TExδ01 has been excited inside the proposed DRA. Since the uniform field distribution over the main radiating aperture, this design has about 5.83 dB gain at θ = 0°. Meanwhile, the ceramic DR is located only 3mm above the ground plane and still shown to provide an efficient electromagnetic radiation mechanism, which is difficult for conventional conductive antennas to achieve. Therefore the proposed antenna could be a good candidate for 4G wireless communication applications in future. Next step we will fabricate and measure this novel DRA to further prove the simulated results.
