Abstract :
The conception of the converged networks and NGN from the different points of view is presented in the paper. The possible migration scenarios of telecommunication networks (PSTN/IN) and data networks are shortly described. Using the functional NGN model the distributed conception and physical architecture (including the individual physical entities) of the NGN is described. There are several problems they have to be solve to support the processes of the development and implementation of the converged networks and NGN in the ICT infrastructure. Some of these problems (protocol platforms, standardization activities) are specified and shortly described. The process of the development and implementation of the converged networks and NGN services is the specific problem. The future evolution trends of the NGN are also delineated.
