Abstract :
Digital waveguide models are commonly used for simulating vocal-tract acoustics based on physiological data. The data are usually obtained from magnetic resonance imaging. The paper details an approach for extracting the model parameters from vowel sounds. The parameters are used in estimating the formant compared with LPC. The tests are carried on Chinese vowels, and the proposed algorithm is proved to be efficient.
