Abstract
In this paper we report the gain enhancement of a UWB slot antenna through the use of a surface mounted short horn. The impedance bandwidth of the antenna, defined by the frequency band where the return loss is greater than 10 dB, is from 2.9 GHz 18.38 GHz i.e. with 15.5 GHz bandwidth. It has a peak gain of 11 dBi and the average gain over the frequency band is 8.70 dBi. The antenna is designed using the electromagnetic simulation software CST Microwave Studio.
