Abstract
The application of a programmable logic controller (PLC) for automation of petroleum product terminal deliveries is described. The basic philosophy of the automation is discussed, and subsystems required to achieve the desired level of automation are described. Among the subsystems discussed are remote sensing of incoming product, tank gauging, petroleum measurement, local inputs/outputs, report generation, and satellite supervisory control communications. Benefits of the described terminal delivery automation are itemized and discussed
