  • Abstract
New-style, dual-axis, full range (0-360deg) smart inclinometer, which is based on a low-cost accelerometer with duty-cycle output and universal sensors and transducers interface (USTI) integrated circuit is described in the paper. At the fist time, the developed inclinometer uses the USTI especially designed for precision (up to 0.005 %) duty-cycle - to - digital conversion and signal conditioning in such applications. The USTI is based on the novel method for duty-cycle measurements, has programmable quantization error and non-redundant conversion time. It also adds dasiaintelligentpsila features in the inclinometer and can store a TEDS (according to the IEEE 1451.4 standard) with accelerometerpsilas calibration constants and USTIpsilas quantization error, which can be programmed. The designed inclinometer has plusmn 0.05deg absolute error and high scalable resolution. The measured angle can be sent by SPI, I2C or serial port.
