Abstract :
In this letter, we propose a new design of a dual band electromagnetic band gap (EBG) resonator structure feeding a reflector antenna for space multibeam applications. The EBG antenna is composed of a double-layer frequency selective surfaces (FSS) arranged in the longitudinal direction and a square horn as feed. First we devise a technique to adapt the dual band EBG antenna characteristics for this space application which requires the same EBG phase center and the same radiation patterns for the two frequency bands. Then, the design and the performances of the dual band EBG antenna (at 5 GHz and at 7.5 GHz) are detailed.
