Abstract :
The geological heritage is the precious, non-renewable natural heritage which formed, developed and left through the long geological history period of the earth evolution, it is because of various internal and external dynamic function. Geopark is the best way to construct a sustainable development and utilization of geological heritage. This paper bases on describing the concept and characteristics of geological heritage, reviews the world geoparks planning and the development process, and introduces the current situation of the Chinese geoparks construction. In the final part, it concludes that through the geopark construction, it can achieve three purposes: protecting geological heritage resources, promoting sustainable development of the local economy and promoting academic research and scientific literacy, in order to achieve the sustainable utilization of geological heritage resources.
