Abstract :
The normal approach in order to determine the phase difference between two signals is to use a PLL based circuit which gives a linear output as voltage with regards to a frequency. In this paper simple peak follower and square root circuit have been utilized in order to determine the phase difference. A new approach has been applied where voltage gives a direct reading of cos of phase difference along with a quadrant detection mechanism to indicate the phase angle accurately. Further simulated results indicate a very low magnitude of error which makes it easier to calibrate without any required error offset voltage. Both constant phase and variable phase change circuits has been considered.
